The mission of Pathways To Trust is to elevate the rare disease patient's voice to increase access to care and eliminate bias by bringing stakeholders together.

Rare disease patients face significant hurdles to accessing effective, appropriate and respectful care.

• Physicians are not trained in treating rare disease. There are 30 million rare disease patients in the US, 
  95% of physicians feel unprepared to treat them.
  
  
• Rare disease patients travel an average of 563 miles just to get a diagnosis
• There are more than 10,000 rare diseases, but more than 90% do not have an FDA approved treatment

Pathways To Trust is working to change all that. Since 2024, we have trained nearly 1,000 medical students, nursing students and nurses about the 360-degree experience of being a rare disease patient:

• Medical impact
• Emotional/psychological impact
• Social/professional impact
• Financial impact

We have helped more than 200 patients raise their voices to ensure that healthcare treats their real life needs, not just what providers think they need.
