At ROOM's 2025 gala, we honored the courage it takes to engage in difficult conversations with the hope of creating meaningful change.

Lord John Alderdice, our Coline Covington 2025 award winner was honored for his contributions addressing some of the world’s most challenging conflicts. His actions exemplify the transformative potential of psychoanalytic thinking in action. Lord Alderdice has been a supporter of ROOM since our first issue in 2017 and his essay "Beyond Reason" was published in ROOM 10.23

We also heard Tasala Habibyar’s courageous story about her escape from and return to Afghanistan, Jyoti M. Rao’s astute insight linking student protests to analytic interpretation, Francesca Schwartz’s homage to Kara Walker’s groundbreaking art, and Mary Buchinger’s poem "The Restless Voice."
