The Homeland Community Foundation Street Tree Project
Help Restore Homeland’s Tree Canopy
In 2024, Homeland celebrated its 100th anniversary—and with it, a renewed commitment to preserving the neighborhood’s historic beauty. A recent street tree audit by the Homeland Community Foundation revealed a sobering truth: more than 650 trees are missing from the original Olmsted Brothers’ landscaping plan.
These trees are more than part of our heritage. They provide essential shade, reduce flooding, cool our streets, and create habitats for wildlife. Yet over the years, age, disease, blight, and other causes have left gaps in our canopy—and that number continues to grow.
HCF is dedicated to restoring this tree canopy and preserving a flourishing landscape for generations to come. But replacing trees comes at a significant cost—for plant material, transportation, and labor. We cannot do it without the support of our neighbors.
Your contribution will help us revive the beauty and resilience of Homeland’s streets. Every gift, large or small, brings us closer to replacing what has been lost.
