To honor our progress and continue our journey, historically we have held our Annual Fundraising Dinner and Auction at the historic Rancho Nicasio Restaurant in Nicasio. Due to the pandemic and our inability to hold an in-person event, this year's fundraiser will be held online, and will take you to the heart of our mission in a whole new way. Through an online program, we will bring the inspiring tales of Halleck Creek into the comfort of your home. All you have to do is click through, relax and enjoy the show! Reflecting on our successes and highlighting the dedicated individuals who bring our ranch to life, this event raises critical funds to support our programs and the people who benefit from them. During the event, a Silver Buckle will be awarded to an honoree who embodies our motto: Life without barriers. Each year we acknowledge and recognize the efforts of an individual who is both living their life without barriers, as well as encouraging and inspiring others around them to do the same. In 2020 we are excited to honor Pamela King with our Silver Buckle Award. Pamela began weekly riding lessons at Halleck Creek Ranch in 2018 and has made it her mission to learn to ride independently. She has since moved to Merced County and makes the three-hour journey by car or five-hour trek by train to make it to the Ranch each week - and that's only one way! When asked why she doesn’t find somewhere closer to ride, she says, “Because I love Halleck Creek and wouldn’t want to ride anywhere else!” We have to admit, we agree, and we can’t wait to share more of her story with you!

Halleck Creek Ranch improves the lives of Bay Area youth with disabilities and their families by
providing low-cost individual and group therapeutic horseback riding programs and equine assisted
activities. These programs help to break down barriers to outdoor physical activity, improve mental
health, foster independence and self-confidence, build family and peer relationships, and increase
interaction between the disabled and non-disabled community, leading to a richer, fuller life for all. This
form of therapy is a dynamic, exciting form of exercise that is often recommended by medical
professionals as a complementary form of physical, occupational or speech therapy for youth with
disabilities. Through its unique physical movements, animal-human bonds, and adventurous nature,
equine-assisted activities and therapeutic horseback riding helps our participants to gain the strength,
coordination, self-confidence, and sensory skills needed to live independent, healthier lives.
