Story
Introducing the sixth annual Hope From Coast to Coast 2022 presented by the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group (DMAIG)!
In 2016, Hope From Coast to Coast (HFC2C) was formed by DMAIG to provide an outlet for Penn State Alumni to fundraise for the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON). THON is the largest student run philanthropy that fundraises all year, culminating in a 46 hour Dance Marathon in February. Alumni would fundraise starting in November until THON Weekend. To celebrate their fundraising efforts, participants would run/walk as many miles as they could during the week leading up to THON weekend. Since it's inception, alumni have run/walked well over 3,000 miles and donated over $60,000 to THON through the HFC2C event.
This year, participants can get involved in Hope From Coast to Coast through our NEW in-person event or from around the world through our virtual event.
New this year: In-Person Relay from Hershey to State College! This year, Hope From Coast to Coast is hosting a relay from Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey to the Bryce Jordan Center the days leading up to THON Weekend (i.e., February 17-18, 2021). Participants will carry letters for the dancers from the children at the hospital and will run three legs of three to five miles. The top 15 fundraising individuals will be selected for the team on January 23, 2022. In-person participants can join the "In-Person Participants" team to start fundraising today!
The Virtual 46-Day Challenge! Supporters from around the world can once again participate in the Hope From Coast to Coast 46-day challenge. As a community, Hope From Coast to Coast is setting a goal to collectively run or walk 3,000 miles in the 46 days leading up to THON Weekend (i.e., the average distance from coast to coast). Additionally, every participant is challenged to run or walk 135 miles in these 46 days, the same distance as the in-person relay from Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey to the Bryce Jordan Center. Make sure to sign up before the 46-day challenge begins on January 2, 2022.
You can participate through a donation or by signing up to fundraise. You can fundraise as a team or as an individual. All participants will hear more about the virtual challenge in December 2021.
Also, be on the lookout for our participant toolkit, coming soon!
So whether you are donating or fundraising, your participation makes a huge impact. All donations support the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) and will be donated on Sunday, February 20, 2022 during THON Weekend 2021.
Join our Facebook Group! Connect with Penn State Alumni who love THON just as much as you do.
