Many of you know that I am the volunteer teacher recruiter for the Sri Aurobindo School of Kathmandu, founded in 1993, which educates about 200 children of poverty in Nepal. I recruit English-speaking volunteer teachers from around the world since the school has NO paid teachers.  I am also the director of the Sri Aurobindo School of Kathmandu Education Fund, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  

I am seeking your support for Project LEAP (Learning English Accelerates Progress), which is being implemented at the school over the next three years.  The purpose is to increase the children’s English language abilities in all areas: speaking, listening, reading, comprehending, and writing. English is the universal language around the world and improved English will give these children brighter futures.  With better English language skills, they will be able to get well-paying jobs and go to college.

Project LEAP has three components, the volunteer teachers, a new English as a Second Language curriculum, and respect for Nepali culture and tradition to bolster children’s self- esteem. We expect to see big gains in English language ability within 12 months’ time. Project LEAP can achieve this goal because of the talented volunteers our non-profit sends to teach the students on a rotating basis and people like you who support our work.
