On 11/20 Brittany went to the Obgyn with a concern about a lump. After completing a mammogram, ultra sound, and 3 biopsies, on 1/5 Brittany received the news that the tumor was in fact cancerous and was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

Brittany underwent surgery on 1/13 to have her chemo port put in and to have lymph nodes removed. Her CT scans and lymph nodes came back clear and the cancer has not spread, but this month Brittany came across another bump in the road.

She was set to begin her chemo treatments on 2/4, but after talking with a fertility specialist she was informed that pregnancy after chemo was not promised. The fertility doctor started her on injections immediately, that she will have to take for 10-14 days, before having another surgery on 2/13.

Brittany now faces the expensive challenge (that is not covered by insurance) of retrieval and freezing of her eggs. Many women who undergo chemotherapy unfortunately stop ovulating. Brittany has to move quickly to retrieve her eggs and store them, so that after she beats cancer and is finished with chemo, she has a shot at becoming a mom. If you know her, you know how great she is with kids. Being a mom is her dream.

On top of that, cancer is just not affordable. While she has found financial help in grants to help assist with the cost of medication, the cost of the chemo and surgeries is starting to accrue.

This will not only help relieve some of the financial stress from fertility treatments but also help cover the cost of her upcoming chemo treatments. Brittany's insurance does not cover any of the fertility expenses or her previous surgery.
