Our Founder’s Day of Giving theme, Contribute Courageously, comes from our mission statement and recognizes those in our community from past and present who have courageously contributed to making High Mowing School what it is today.

High Mowing School was founded in 1942 by Beulah Hepburn Emmet, whose vision, determination, and generosity created fertile soil for the ongoing growth of this unique and dynamic school. Why May 9th for a day that honors our founder? It was on this day in 1942 that Mrs. Emmet received the official charter from the state that she could convert her family farm to a school and welcome students in the fall of that year. In terms of contributing courageously, our founder set the standard for generations of students, parents, and community members to come.

For 83 years, members of the HMS community have exhibited courage during pivotal moments – such as the fires on both campuses – and in everyday contributions that weave the fabric of our vibrant community.

We’re thrilled to announce two special $25,000 incentive challenges:

First $25K Match: Every dollar you give will be matched 1:1 up to $25,000.
Second $25K Match: Once we reach 83 donors, in honor of High Mowing’s 83 years, an additional $25,000 will be unlocked.
