Hi everyone, my name is Michelle Leal, and I’m reaching out to my fellow Kroger associates and other essential workers for help during a time of crisis.

Since 2014, I’ve proudly worked as a grocery stocker at Kroger #128 in Houston, Texas. I love my job, I never call in sick, and I take great pride in being a hardworking, reliable team member. In 2022, after years of dedication, I achieved a life-changing milestone—I bought my first home in Livingston, Texas. As a single woman with no family to lean on, I’ve managed everything on my own, including the hour-long commute from Livingston to Houston for work.

But on March 30, 2025, my car’s transmission failed, leaving me completely stranded. Without transportation, I can’t get to work, and my immediate supervisor, Shauna, and store manager, Amy, have given me two weeks to figure something out. But time is running out, and I don’t know what to do.

I’m asking for $5,000 to purchase a reliable vehicle or repair my 2017 Chevy Spark, so I can get back on my feet. If I can get a car or fix my current one for less, I promise to donate any remaining funds to another essential worker in need.
