The SHPE North Carolina State University Chapter and the Si Se Puede Scholarship Foundation is pleased to launch our inaugural Hispanos in STEM Scholarship!

We believe that the most pressing problem facing the STEM industry is that the workforce has yet to reflect the diversity of our nation. In many cases, higher education is too much of a financial burden on families and prevents Hispanics from pursuing their desired careers. Thus, in an effort to help alleviate these costs we have started the Hispanos in STEM scholarship! This scholarship is awarded to a deserving rising college student who has demonstrated academic excellence and engagement in their community, as well as having all the attributes to be a great SHPE Member! All funds raised will go directly towards paying tuition. SHPE is a Familia, and we aim to help a future member of this community in making their pursuit of an education and career a reality.

Scholarship Criteria:

Rising College Student (current High School Senior) at NC State University
Submit an essay that describes how their upbringing has influenced their pursuit of their desired degree and career
Hispanic/Latino student pursuing a STEM related degree
Minimum highschool 3.0 GPA requirement

Our NC State chapter is the oldest Latinx organization on campus and the largest and most active chapter in the Carolinas. We have over 90 active members with close to weekly meetings throughout the semester. We are centered around 5 key pillars: Professional development, Leadership Development, Chapter Development, Academic Development, and Community Outreach.
