The ongoing war in Ukraine has left millions of children vulnerable to mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Many children are struggling with the emotional fallout of isolation, disrupted families, and the constant threat of Russian attacks.

But there is hope.

Heal Ukraine Trauma (HUT) is implementing the Teaching Recovery Techniques (TRT) program, an evidence-based psychosocial intervention developed by the Norwegian Children and War Foundation, specifically designed for children affected by war and disasters.

The TRT program has already proven effective in helping children process trauma and build resilience in conflict zones worldwide. Guided by trained, local facilitators, children learn to manage their stress and process their trauma-related emotions and thoughts. This preventive program aims to reduce the need for more intensive treatment later, providing vital support at a crucial stage in the children’s growth and recovery.

Since 2023, we have reached over 1300 Ukrainian children through this transformative program. This year, our goal is to reach an additional 500 children—but we need your help to make it happen.
