1 in 5 people is living with a mental health condition. Nevada ranks 51st in the nation (by Mental Health America) for its prevalence of mental illness and limited access to mental health services. Community involvement and funding is more critical now than ever. The pandemic has caused a severe increase in mental health conditions and suicide. NAMI Northern NV & NAMI Western NV have partnered to bring mental illness awareness to the community during Mental Health Awareness Month. We provide education, advocacy and support to individuals living with a mental health condition and their loved ones. Our services are provided at no cost to the community but funding is needed to provide our services. Any state funds granted for mental health services comes from the state's general fund; however, general funded programs are the first to be cut in an economic downturn. The NAMI Western NV Warmline (offered state wide) has seen an exponential increase of calls due to stressors experienced from COVID-19 and the calls are expected to continue to increase. Your donation assists in the continuance of programming and increasing community outreach to provide our services to those that would otherwise not have support. We hope that you can support our mission during this fundraising campaign.
