Through United Way of the Coalfield, communities come together to tackle tough challenges and create lasting change. By partnering with a network of private, public, and nonprofit organizations, we work to improve lives across Hopkins, Caldwell, and Muhlenberg Counties by expanding access to education, economic mobility, healthcare, and basic needs.

With your support, we’re able to:

Deliver meals to seniors
Support local shelters and soup kitchens
Provide early childhood education and after-school programming
Offer vocational and life skills training for individuals with disabilities
Advocate for abused and neglected children through trained volunteers
Improve access to free healthcare, mental health services, and food assistance

We are also proud to be boots on the ground when disaster strikes. Following the May 2024 tornado, the April 2025 flooding, and the May 2025 severe weather event, United Way of the Coalfield played a direct role in providing relief and resources. Through our partnership with Airbnb and 211, we ensured that every displaced individual whose name was provided to us received immediate, temporary shelter in the county they call home.

Thanks to our generous donors and partners, we not only responded immediately after the December 10 tornado, but we continue to support long-term recovery efforts throughout the region.
