Hangover for Hounds

The Humane Society of Blue Ridge is a non-profit, no-kill shelter providing direct care and services to thousands of animals and families 365 days a year. We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with any national humane societies. We rely on donations and sponsorships to support our mission.

With a mission to raise awareness, prevent euthanasia of adoptable animals, promote affordable spaying and neutering, and address the local feral cat population, HSBR has been instrumental in fostering compassion and care within the community. However, with the ever-evolving challenges faced by both pets and their owners, HSBR recognizes the need to adapt and expand its services to meet the growing demands of the community.

We need your help! Can you donate to help us support the growing needs of our community?

  • $250 DONATION - Dog & Cat Food - This helps cover the cost to provide sound nutrition to every animal that is in our care until they are adopted.
  • $500 DONATION - TNR (Trap Neuter Release) Support - This helps cover the cost of local feral cats to be trapped, neutered, and released back to its original location. Cats can have 3 litters a year with 6 kittens per litter. These kittens can then have their own litter as young as 4 months old. The TNR program helps prevent thousands of homeless cats per year.
  • $1,000 DONATION - Community Food Pantry Distribution - This helps cover the cost of food to be distributed to local residents in need through our Community Food Pantry. We average 75 fur families a month, but this number keeps going up due to inflation and housing insecurities. Animals that become burdensome to families are often surrendered or put out to fend for themselves. Providing food helps keep pets where they belong, with their families.
  • $2,500 DONATION - Basic Medical Care- This helps cover the cost of basic medical care for every animal that comes into the shelter and have them spayed or neutered. Every animal that comes into the shelter has to be treated to prevent outbreaks. This includes things like rabies, parvo, distemper, heart worm, dewormers, flea and tick medication and microchip. We also want every animal spayed or neutered before being adopted into their forever home.
