Individuals and families right here in our own communities face this health crisis every day, and no safety net programs like WIC, food stamps, or Medicare cover the cost of these necessities. No one should have to choose between food or medications and these basic health resources, but many do.
Heart of Ohio Diaper Bank (HODB) - one of only 10 in Ohio and the only diaper bank serving Carroll, Harrison, Medina, Stark, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties - exists to ease this burden. HODB also serves families in Summit County.
Headquartered in Stark County and run by volunteers, the diaper bank serves low-income individuals and families who require assistance with diapers for children and adults suffering incontinence and period supplies for teenage girls and women.
This year alone, HODB and HER Project, our period poverty initiative, will distribute over 550,000 diapers and thousands of period products free of charge to low-income individuals and families across seven Ohio counties, serving 1,300 a month. Yet the need is growing, and HODB is asking for your support to meet the increasing demand.
