Be The Joy Foundation is a local Delco non-profit established in 2020 on a mission to spread joy - lifting our community up and bringing them together - one act of kindness at a time. We started with gifting out over $30,000 in December 2020 all over Delco $100 cash at a time to over 300 restaurant industry workers put out of work due to the shutdowns. Now we are an official 501c3 on a community wide mission!

We are thrilled to say this goal of paying off student lunch debt was just recently achieved for TWO Delco School Districts. First was Rose Tree Media School District where Be The Joy delivered a check last month for $2700.19 covering ALL 150 students. Next stop was Penn Delco School District where we will deliver a check for $6597 next week covering ALL 344 students with lunch debt.

This was only made possible with support from the community and local business sponsors so we are hoping you will join us in doing the same for Marple Newtown!

Marple Newtown School District includes Elementary Schools: Culbertson, Loomis, Russell, Worrall, Paxon Hollow Middle School and Marple Newtown High School. The total student lunch debt currently sits at $2480.74 across 273 students.

However our fundraiser goal is shooting higher so that we can achieve the following for MNSD:

*$2480.74 to pay off all lunch debt in the district

*$2000.00 to add $50 into 40 student lunch accounts experiencing lunch insecurity due to a hardship/circumstance to keep their accounts in the green

*$1000.00 in grocery gift cards for the school to give out to families in the district as needs arise

*With extra funds we will deliver a special gifting to both Marple families who recently experienced house fires. This will be in the form of any needed goods and supplies.
 
Be The Joy has allotted $1481.00 from current funds to this worthy cause right off the bat - bringing the fundraising goal to $4,000! These funds made possible by our incredible business sponsors & community supporters!

This goal is important to us to accomplish as a community since the Universal School Meals Program Act ended this year which previously ensured that every child had free lunch regardless of income after the onset of the pandemic brought more food insecurity to homes. While the school district does not allow any child without funds to go hungry - we hope to alleviate this burden from the students and their families.
