Help Save VFW Post 3274
Our VFW Post has been around for 87 years in Hobbs, NM. The post has experienced its ups and downs over the years. The Covid 19 Pandemic almost closed our doors permanently due to lack of income. In addition, we endured a costly break-in that further hurt our financial status. The Post has had a constant, uphill battle of stabilizing our finances from this point forward. In spite of difficulties, our post has united with outstanding community service: Most notable was our hall opening up to provide warmth and shelter during severe cold weather events in 2022. We unite with the community and come together to help support those in need. We also support our National programs. For example our post sent a high school student to compete for a national scholarship in the Voice of Democracy. We also had a Teacher of the Year make it to National recognition as well. The cherry on top was our post being recognized as an All American VFW Post at a national convention: A very prestigious honor bestowed upon a post and our first ever! Currently, we are experiencing a grave financial situation that will ultimately cause us to close our doors indefinitely until our financial issues have been resolved. This has come about as a result of misguided trust of establishments to assist us with our finances. We have explored many options to raise funds with much opposition to meet a 31 October deadline. Our Post is a 501(c)(19) charity. We use our foundation as a pass through since it is designated a 501(c)(3) for tax purposes. We will continue to fight the fight, and any assistance is appreciated.
