Dear friends, I am writing to you with a heavy heart and

a plea for help. My son Silas has been diagnosed with leukemia at the tender age of 3.

This news comes after his older sister Emma battled the same cancer at the age of 15,

and while she managed to beat it, we are still paying off her medical bills. It feels like a

cruel twist of fate that we are now facing this same battle with our youngest child.

Watching Emma go through cancer treatment was one of the hardest things our family

has ever experienced. Not only was the physical toll on her body excruciating, but the

emotional toll was just as difficult. The stigma surrounding cancer can make it hard f

or survivors to feel like they can fully integrate back into society, and Emma has spoken

candidly about how hard it was for her. Now, we find ourselves in a similar situation with

Silas, but this time the burden is even heavier. We must travel to a different state for his

treatment, meaning that both my husband and I cannot work. Emma is currently in college and we are still paying off her medical bills, so the financial strain on our family is immense. We have already downsized to just one vehicle and are down to one mortgage, but it's still not enough. My husband tries to reassure me that he will come up with the money, but I know that it's not possible. We simply do not have the means to pay for Silas's treatment and care without help. It feels like we are out of options and have no choice but to turn to the kindness of others. I know that times are tough for everyone right now, and it's hard to ask for help. But as a mother, I am desperate to do everything I can to give my child the best chance at beating this terrible disease. Every dollar counts, and if everyone gave just one dollar, it would mean the world to our family. I am not asking for a handout, but rather a hand up.
