Hera was sick and starving when the kind old lady found and trapped her. Next door neighbors stepped in to help feed and provide initial vet care. Unused to caring for cats, Matt and his wife asked for help from Mandarin's Retreat. Three days after being trapped, Hera was being seen by our vet and an initial health screening found a starving, dirty lady cat with multiple bad teeth, tummy problems, diarrhea and a positive feline leukemia test.

But the worst of Hera's problems were unknown until her breathing began labored a week at the Retreat. Feline leukemia induced carcinoma had invaded her chest and we eased the darling little lady over the Rainbow Bridge and into peaceful rest.

We're leaving the fund open as a tool for the next seriously ill cat who enters Mandarin's Retreat. This is just a small down payment for the large initial vet costs. Every penny will go to vet costs for a deserving kitty.
