A BETTER FUTURE FOR RWANDA:

By planting thousands of trees and implementing effective adaptation and mitigation strategies, the foundation is improving Eastern Rwanda's resilience to climate change. This will lessen the impact of diseases, low agricultural productivity, poverty, soil erosion, irregular rains, and environmental degradation. Since 2020, the foundation has reached out to 100 Small farmers, 27,000 trees Planted in 12 hectares, 5 Schools engaged, 30 Households helped to design keyhole gardens,1500 Youth involved in sustainability activities, and We Collaborated with German Cooperation to Umuganda. Over 500 community members were reached, and 20 children were sponsored with school support.

Current Issue.

With 68.7% of the population experiencing food insecurity, Rwanda is mainly affected in rural areas that rely on rain-fed agriculture. Climate variability exacerbates this situation, leaving farmers without effective ways to boost productivity. Of the households affected, 38.6% face low food security, 18.7% live below the poverty line, and 1.7% suffer from severe food insecurity. Projections of global temperatures under RCP scenarios, such as RCP 2.6, which calls for a 1.5°C increase by 2100, underscore the need to reduce emissions to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Combining climate-resilient agriculture with international climate action is essential to address Rwanda's food shortages. Moreover, poverty in the education sector is exacerbated by climate change, limiting schools' access to sanitary facilities and making it harder for families to afford school fees. There is an urgent need for improved sanitation, infrastructure, and sustainable food initiatives to ensure quality education and student well-being amid climate challenges.

Possible Solutions:

Our 1 Year strategic goals by 2025:

• Plant more than 100,000 trees to help restore ecosystems and mitigate climate change.

• Educate over 1,000 students about climate change and environmental stewardship.

• Create 10 Environmental Clubs to maintain ongoing climate action initiatives.

• Enhance vegetable gardens and sanitation tools within the participating schools.

• Help 30 Students with school materials and fee support.

Long-term Impact.

The foundation enhances climate resilience and food security by planting over 100,000 trees, promoting sustainable practices, and implementing community gardens while empowering small farmers. Education efforts, including Environmental Clubs, will cultivate environmentally conscious citizens, contributing to health and well-being through improved sanitation and nutrition. Collaborating with organizations fosters community engagement, supporting Sustainable Development Goals like No Poverty and Climate Action. Ultimately, these efforts will transform communities, improve livelihoods, and ensure a sustainable future for Rwanda and the world.
