Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York, is part of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR). Founded in 1930 by Russian émigré monks, the monastery has grown into a spiritual, cultural, and educational center for Orthodox Christians. It is home to a monastic community dedicated to prayer, daily liturgical services, and the preservation of Orthodox Christian traditions. The monastery also houses Holy Trinity Seminary, an Orthodox theological institution, and operates a publishing house that produces liturgical texts and Orthodox literature in both English and Slavonic.
Without your heartfelt prayers and generous financial support, we would not be able to operate and fulfill our spiritual mission. Your contributions are vital in:
-Maintaining our sacred spaces: Our monastery grounds include the main church, several chapels, living quarters, and auxiliary buildings. These structures require constant care and occasional restoration to preserve their spiritual function.
-Sustaining our community: Your donations provide the basic needs of all monastics, allowing them to focus on spiritual growth and service. This includes meals, clothing, and medical care for dozens of individuals committed to a life of prayer.
-Preserving our liturgical tradition: We conduct a full cycle of services every day of the year. This includes the daily Divine Liturgy, Vespers, Matins, and the Hours, as well as special feast day celebrations.
-Educating future spiritual leaders: Our seminary trains the next generation of Orthodox clergy and lay leaders. This requires monastery resources to be used for the provision of educational materials, support of the faculty, and the maintenance of both teaching spaces and living quarters.
-Offering hospitality: We welcome pilgrims throughout the year, providing them with accommodation, meals, and spiritual guidance.
Your support, both spiritual and financial, is the essential basis that allows us to continue this important work while preserving our Orthodox traditions in an increasingly secular world.
Currently, we are working on several important projects to maintain and improve the monastery:
1. Restoration of church mosaics: The intricate mosaics on the exterior of our main church, which depict our Lord, His Mother, and other saints, have weathered over time and require expert restoration to preserve their beauty and spiritual significance.
2. Construction of a new carpentry shop: This will allow us to create and repair furniture, liturgical items, and other wooden structures on-site, reducing costs and fostering self-sufficiency.
3. New frescoes for the monastery refectory: We aim to adorn our dining hall with inspiring frescoes that create a more prayerful atmosphere for our community meals.
The total cost of these projects is a significant undertaking for our community. Additionally, we've seen a marked increase in pilgrims since the coronavirus pandemic. We greatly rejoice in welcoming more visitors seeking spiritual communion and fellowship, but this influx has increased our operational costs.
In light of these pressing needs, we humbly reach out to you for support. Your tax-deductible donation, regardless of its size, plays a vital role in our ability to continue serving our mission before God. Whether you can offer $5 or $5000, each contribution helps sustain our life of prayer, service, and hospitality. Your generosity ensures that Holy Trinity Monastery remains a center of Orthodox spirituality in America for generations to come.
