At Hearts & Paws Animal Rescue, our mission is to make sure every pet has a safe and loving home. Based in Abilene Texas, we are a dedicated non-profit organization created by a group of experienced animal rescuers, transporters and foster moms who are committed to helping abandoned and neglected dogs and cats get healthy and find their forever homes.

Take for example Mama Stormy and her puppies. She was found tossed in a ditch in a crate with her babies during a tornado next to a bag of food. One of the babies unfortunately drowned because the ditch was full of water. We had amazing people step up for Mama and her remaining babies to foster and got them to safety. All of them had skin conditions from the dirty water and the babies developed rickets. We got everyone treated and well. They were all fixed, vaccinated and have all been placed in loving forever homes and are doing amazing!

Gale (pictured above) was a another difficult case . She was neglected in her foster's care and put outside at night. She got hung up in a rope for an unknown amount of time and nearly lost her front leg as a result. We were blessed with a couple who do cold laser for livestock and they have worked with her for months to save her leg and rehab her anxieties. Her foster also allowed her to be attacked by other large dogs, resulting in scars all over her body and anxiety behaviors. We are investing much time, love, and funds to make sure that she heals and can find the love she deserves.

We are desperately in need of a van to move our foster dogs to vet appointments and to meet transports. Often, the size and number of animals we need to move exceed what our personal vehicles can accommodate. We are hoping to raise enough funds to purchase a good, used vehicle.
