Black Cap Solidarity Fund
Workers at the Black Cap Burlington store are on an unfair labor practice strike following the abrupt closure of the company's only union store just as they were set to finalize a strong first contract. Burlington is one of the company’s busiest locations, and we believe the closure is in retaliation to workers choosing to unionize, and an attempt to discourage Black Cap locations in Stowe, Waterbury, and Morrisville from unionizing.
Black Cap workers are asking you to contribute to their solidarity fund to help offset lost wages resulting from the strike. In solidarity with their fellow baristas, Burlington workers have also pledged to give a portion of the funds raised to the not-yet unionized baristas at the other locations to help offset lost tip revenue resulting from the boycott.
Workers have been picketing in sub-freezing temperatures outside the other Black Cap locations, and they are willing to stay out on strike until management agrees to re-open the Church St location, give them back their jobs, and sign a fair contract.
Please give whatever you can, no matter how small.
