There are 26 forms of ichthyosis, and I was born with its X-linked variant. However, because it does not appear in women, my mother did not know, nor did her mother, that this was a part of our genetic makeup until I was born.
As a person with Ichthyosis, I want to help raise money for FIRST to find treatments and support for those with this condition.
Recently however, my family discovered there is reason to believe that female carriers may experience symptoms due to the mutation that does not manifest in their skin. I want to raise funds to support not only myself but my 2 sisters too.
