Our organization wants to rise above the basics of adopting a bare-bones DEI curriculum for our healthcare clinicians and, instead, create a meaningful curriculum that will truly help our staff, clinicians, and students have the highest possible skill level to ensure that we can rise to the challenge of ensuring that the care we deliver is trauma-informed, free from bias and more ideally transformative for our team and those we serve.

The people that we serve need trauma-informed, anti-biased, and anti-oppressive care and they need us to raise our competency level ASAP! We will build a transformative DEI program that includes sessions taught by thought leaders in DEI approaches for healthcare clinicians and staff and we will also bring in local facilitators who can help us with hands-on learning that is more likely to create change than attending a webinar. This program will become integrated into our organization and will be a robust and ongoing conversation. The $10,000 is the seed money to help make this program a reality.

Clinicians and organizations need to adopt immediate and innovative approaches to training to raise the bar on what clients can expect when working with care services for underserved populations - we want to set a higher standard for ourselves, those we serve, and other organizations serving vulnerable populations.

We serve people who want and need affordable behavioral health and holistic services in the state of Washington. This includes people from disabled, BIPOC, senior, and LGBTQ+ communities. People who have been historically marginalized and experience housing and food insecurity are among our clients. The pay-what-you-can fee structure helps more people access services than with sliding scale or insurance pay models. We offer care in-person, online, and in the community to help reach more people in need. In 2023, we gave over $120,000 in discounts on our services to people in need in Washington State.
