International Leadership Outreach (ILO) is delighted to announce that in 2026, we will be completing a building in Kimilili, Kenya to house the tailoring and digital skills classes for the Wezesha Project. This project was started in 2023, and this is the year to finish what we began.

During the last four years, ILO has found its niche collaborating with local leaders who are committed to ensuring successful outcomes in creating a better future for their community.

ILO completed 15 projects in 2025 and raised almost 50% of our goal of $50,000!

Created in 2021, ILO began financially supporting the Wezesha project in 2022, a vocational school for tailoring and digital skills in Kimilili, Kenya. ILO’s mission is encouraging international networking, and exchanging ideas, perspectives and visions with local and global leaders, for the purpose of creating self-sustaining economic opportunities. A hallmark of these projects is strengthening the most vulnerable children and youth by developing their autonomy and leadership.

All your donations and contributions will go towards the transformation of communities through local leadership.

In 2026, ILO will focus all its fundraising efforts for the purpose of transforming communities through leadership, supporting the vision of local leaders to impact the lives of those who need the most support. ILO discovered that the best way to get a project accomplished is through collaborating with leaders who are already doing work in their community, have a desire for expansion, and are committed to carrying out their vision in spite of the challenges they face.

Note: 15% of all donations is retained for ILO’s operational expenses.

1. Patrick Maundu, in Nairobi, Kenya speaks for Elijah Musembi in Aeronautical Engineering and Nicholas Musyoka Katiwa in Agriculture Engineering Bachelor of Science and for Francisca and Claudia, 2 more students than originally promised.

—“Elijah Musembi is doing Aeronautical Engineering, a college degree. His single mother has no source of funds except whatever menial jobs she does in her village and is hardly enough to provide their basics. Nicholas Musyoka Katiwa is doing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Engineering, a university degree. His maiden name, ‘Katiwa,’ in my local dialect, means ‘one who was abandoned.’ His mother was nine months pregnant when the father died. He is also being brought up by a single mom, which is a big challenge.

This picture was Elijah and his mum when I went to visit them and talk about the funding! What they’re both wearing is their Sunday best as I met them at their gate coming from church service. In the background are their houses so you can tell how not privileged they are! I called Elijah and Nicholas; overjoyed is an understatement for describing their reactions.

Claudia Mbithe Mwailu, my sister’s last born, joined a polytechnic to do a catering course. Nicholas’s sister is Francisca Nzamba Musyoka. My biggest desire is to help these young people secure their future. The mom has cried tears of joy. I encouraged Elijah to apply for some internship at one of the local airlines (Jambo Jet) which he did and last week he was invited for some interviews. He’s been chosen to intern with them; it’s so encouraging as it will give him a hands-on experience, which many of his colleagues in class may not get. The beauty of this is during his school holidays he’ll intern and will get some pay and this makes me very happy. He’s so excited and I’m overwhelmed when I see what the Lord is doing. Thank you so much for joining me to brighten their lives. You’re an angel. I must say you’re a rare gem. God’s blessings be with you every single moment. I've a special burden for Elijah because he seems the only beacon of hope for his mom and eight siblings. I see him as having the heaviest burden in the sense that if he ‘makes it’ in life he’ll ‘carry his mother and siblings.’

Elijah is on study attachment at Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), the body that runs the Kenyan aviation space. When I met him yesterday and he showed me this photo, tear drops fell from his eyes and he told me, “You know me and where I come from! See the difference!!! Would anyone who knows my background believe that I can enter the airside of an international airport?” That means more than a dream come true for him and many who know his story. I also dropped a tear for him. I’m more than thrilled that my small effort is bearing fruit. God bless you for amplifying my effort and journeying with me.”

7. Day Africa in Nairobi, Kenya—for 10 sewing machines & 20 road side kiosks:

—“Our first month is over with a big achievement especially in the tailoring program with your support. Currently we have enrolled about 13 students who daily attend classes. They are very excited to learn this invaluable skill. The tailoring class you support is currently sitting for their exams. Once done they will graduate and we will be able help buy two sewing machines for them when they graduate. This is possible through your support. I set up my machine by the roadside and started by making repairs. It took me about four months to start making meaningful profit. 12. How ILO benefited CFK for their Camino trip:

—“ILO impacted the CFK Diaper Freedom Camino by providing a funding page and funds which not only made possible going in the first place but sustained us in our journey. The impact has been a lasting one because our physical stamina has persisted beyond our return and we had our consciousness expanded in our having completing. We also were able to impact others: we received multiple times comments that we had inspired our partners, and shared that same inspiration with other pilgrims and friends. Having space for a conversation by meeting with Jean after our completion ultimately led to CFK filing to be a nonprofit in Oregon.

14. HeartScape Journey’s impact on Margarita as she developed her project, The Creative Tree:

—“Before Heartscape Journey, I had relocated to Tanzania, Dar es Salaam with a passion in my heart. As a teacher, I desired to contribute to children’s education by following their interest through play. From my teaching experience, I had experimented with playful learning and observed how beneficial it was to children. I established ‘The Creative Tree’ by nurturing the garden in my backyard into a creative space for children to learn playfully. I started offering free art classes every Wednesday and Sunday to children in and out of school.

—The First Project: The Birth of Heartscape Journey in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The children communicated primarily in Kiswahili. I needed a vehicle to support the children to practice their English as they enjoyed creating. One conversation with Jean Walker brought everything together. She introduced me to her pod cast Heartscape Journey. This was the right vehicle we needed to take us where we were trying to ‘go.’

—What is HeartScape Journey? It is a journey to discover the passion in your heart. Jean and I began to co-create a ‘value- based curriculum’ stemming from the podcast. The animals in the story had character. This made Heartscape fun, engaging and relatable for the children. We went through episode 1 and 2 through meaningful storytelling and creating art.

—Observations: Our 12-week Heartscape Journey with the children disrupted our thinking and started to produce positive changes both in my life and in the children.

—Impact: Heartscape Journey had a ripple effect in Dar es Salaam.

—On the children: They learned new ways of learning that entails freedom of expression, choice and joy. They were more confident and comfortable when we conversed in English. The close interaction paved the way for one-on-one conversations where the children felt heard, were able to ask questions freely and opened up about their individual struggles.

—On the neighborhood: A positive change of attitude towards the English language and other languages, a skilled neighbor’s participation in the ‘Passion project’ in the episode and a local kindergarten with 20 children experienced two weeks of part of the ‘value-based curriculum’ we were developing.

—On Me: HeartScape Journey gave me an answer I was searching for; it made me feel unstuck. It helped me articulate the passion in my heart. With each episode, I experienced growth, gained nuggets of wisdom and refined my passion.

—Conclusion: Heartscape Journey is shaping ‘The Creative Tree’ in becoming an Education Creator based on ‘values and character.’

—The Second Project: Heartscape Journey in Kachibora, Kenya

ILO means thread in Spanish. It is easily seen on social media. It connects local leaders fostering collaborative learning through planned meetings. This is how ‘The Creative Tree’ heard the ‘cry for help’ from Faith Bridge Academy in Kachibora, Kenya. In a YouTube video created by Godfrey, one of the teachers stated ‘the children can draw.’ This positive statement stirred a desire in ‘The Creative Tree’ to ‘go’ and discover what else the children could do.

—Faith Bridge Academy – Kachibora: After completing the first two episodes of Heartscape in Tanzania, ‘The Creative Tree’ grew its branches to Kenya. This was new ground to plant seeds of Heartscape Journey at Faith Bridge Academy. We planned for a 5-day assessment for both the teachers and students at the school.

The purpose for this assessment was to: Derive ways in which the school could offer ‘valuable education’ to the students, disrupt the poverty mindset, and discover both the teachers and student’s passions.

—The Assessment: We used HeartScape Journey, Episode 3, as a guide to create an assessment tool for Faith Bridge Academy. We visited each of the four teachers in their classroom. We observed their lessons and conversed about the passion in their hearts. We prepared a variety of activities for the children to discover the passion in their hearts. We held conversations with the teachers to investigate whether ‘passion pays.’

—The Impact of Collaboration: The staff were inspired to lead their classrooms with passion. Some of these passions were sports, music, electrical wiring, business entrepreneurship and cookery. They were challenged to create a learning environment where both the teacher and student discover their passion together. The students had the opportunity to engage in activities like construction play, team sport, imaginative play, music and movement, loose part play and sensory play. We had the opportunity to introduce HeartScape Journey to the school director as a strategy to grow his school.

—Conclusion: HeartScape Journey in Kachibora deposited seeds of discovering your passion, leading with passion, playful learning, and solution-based thinking to avoid stagnation.

—The Third Project: HeartScape in Busia, Kenya

The Creative Tree is both a teaching and traveling ministry. HeartScape Journey is the ‘vehicle’ it uses to ‘go’ and minister. We journeyed to Busia, which is a border town between Kenya and Uganda. At a church called Zion Temple where we met a youth teaching the pre-teen class about ‘passion.’ The teenagers aged between 13-16 years were listening attentively; however, their participation in the discussions seemed passive.

—Introducing HeartScape to Teenagers: With the teen’s teacher, a plan to help fill the gap was birthed. We would conduct a 5-week Hands-on Bible study program using HeartScape Journey, Episode 3. This episode is based on the ‘Value of Stubbornness.’ We created a program that was an interplay between Bible stories, the Value of Stubbornness, and hands-on activities. We called it ‘Hands-On Teen’s Bible Study.’ Our desire was for the next generation to get their hands on: 1) Bible characters, 2) their own character, and 3) HeartScape Journey. We introduced HeartScape Journey to the teenagers through the ‘Gift of Journaling,’ creating a powerful way for them to connect with themselves.

—Impact: 15 teenagers jotted down their thoughts and discovered more about their gifts and talents. The discussions were interactive, building their knowledge and understanding. Two students in Teacher Training College visited the class. They were there to observe and learn because they are considering volunteering to teach the class on occasion. A girl with special needs was able to participate and enjoy the hands-on activities.

—Conclusion: HeartScape Journey needs to be out in the world so that the will of The Father may be done here on earth as it is in heaven. A story can change someone’s world in the most unpredictable way.
