January Adopt A Highway Cleanup

Come help clean up on HWY 421! This location is on the way to the New Hanover County Landfill and is in desperate need of a cleanup. When trash is not tied down properly, this can cause debris to be strewn on the road way. This is not only bad for the environment, but can also be a hazard for motorists.

For this event, we will have some volunteers will help focus on removing debris from North Terminal Road.

Since 2020, Plastic Ocean Project has removed 12,675.67 pounds of trash from this stretch of Highway 421, resulting in the planting of 444 trees through our Trees4Trash program.

Where: Cape Fear Catamarans

(2102 US-421, Wilmington, NC 28401)

When: Sunday, January 25th from 11 am to 1 pm

Important:

All of the cleanup supplies (Gloves, safety vests, and bags) will be provided by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Plastic Ocean Project will provider grabbers to pick up trash.

*Volunteers are asked to wear closed toed shoes, pants, and to bring water

Before the cleanup all participants are required to view this short safety video from the NCDOT:

If you are between the ages of 12 and 17, a parent/guardian will need to fill our the NCDOT form. This form needs to be provided the day of the cleanup!

**A hard copy of the Liability waiver is required to be signed in person before participating in the cleanup
