Help Us Drive Change: Fund a Van for Our Food Pantry!
We are an Asian and women-led community organization dedicated to combating food insecurity and addressing the inequalities faced by cultural communities across Queens. With a van, we’ll be able to double our capacity, providing more meals to our neighbors and expanding our reach to even more individuals in need. Our mission is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to nutritious, culturally relevant food, and we strive to make this a reality for those we serve.
Our Work:
- Culturally Conscious Food Pantry: Located near a local school, our pantry serves both families from the school across the street and senior communities, ensuring that families and elderly neighbors alike are supported and connected. With the help of intergenerational volunteers, we build a culture of compassion, service, and resilience. Our pantry is designed with cultural awareness in mind, providing groceries that reflect the heritage and dietary needs of our community members. To date, we’ve served over 3,000 individuals and families, fostering a sense of community and belonging through familiar foods.
- Collaborations with Local Restaurants: We are proud to collaborate with a variety of local restaurants, including Buddha Bodai, Belly Cake Pancake House, Claw Daddy's, Keki Modern Cakes, Hop Kee, Spot Dessert Bar, Shaku Ramen, Nomiya, 46 Mott St Bakery and The Dining Collective. Through these partnerships, we’re able to provide hot meals that are both nutritious and comforting, bringing familiar cultural flavors to those we serve and strengthening community connections.
- Food Rescue Initiatives: Driven by a commitment to sustainability, we actively rescue surplus food and household items, diverting them from landfills. By redistributing these resources, we address food insecurity while reducing waste and fostering a healthier planet for future generations.
- Flea/Thrift Markets for Upcycling: We organize flea markets that promote upcycling and reuse, encouraging community members to turn unused items into treasures for others. These markets foster connection, creativity, and support for a circular economy.
- Community Support Services: Our work extends beyond the pantry. We stock community fridges and partner with other pantries to ensure that food access is widespread. We deliver groceries and essentials to homebound and at-risk individuals, including seniors, those who are sick, and people with limited mobility.
Our Story: Why the name Love, XYZ?
There’s a special story behind our organization’s name! We started with Generations X, Y, and Z, who are shaping the world for tomorrow and building a better city for the next generation. Some Generation Z members, along with Generation Alpha, serve as our youth ambassadors, contributing their fresh ideas and unique perspectives to our work. Together, we’re teaching them how to care for one another—all with lots of heart and love!
If you’re unable to contribute toward the van, there are other ways you can help: sign up to volunteer, donate non-perishable items, or support our initiatives in any way that feels right for you. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
