In this innovative class, you'll build your ensemble and shape the world where your soap opera unfolds. Over the 13 weeks, we'll form an Ensemble and explore various soap opera styles, drawing inspiration from classics like As The World Turns, Young and the Restless, The Bold and The Beautiful, Dallas, Dynasty, Dark Shadows, and more! Throughout the class, we'll delve into a spectrum of soap opera techniques, including emoting, melodrama, gossip, character secrets, character archetypes, relationships, romantic scenes, affairs, love triangles, history, narrative development, and the creation of explosive drama. We will learn to end scenes, and build tension. We will learn to black out a scene with questions, discovery, and heightened emotion! The culmination of our journey will be the creation of live shows where we seamlessly incorporate all the elements we've explored over the coarse of four live shows at Outside In Theatre. Please note that cast members are responsible for providing their own costumes and will help promote the class shows. The class sessions play a pivotal role in our collective journey—they are a space where we bond as an ensemble, cultivate the trust essential for creating authentic and topical entertainment, and attain the mastery needed to produce improvised dramatic stories that rival broadcast television. It is crucial to emphasize that unexcused absences or consistent lateness to class may result in a reduction of participation in the final live shows and, in extreme cases, removal from the cast. Dedication and punctuality are vital for ensuring a successful and rewarding experience for all participants. Shows are slated for Friday's, May 3, 10, 17, 24 This class is $300.00 with BIPOC scholarships available, please contact [email protected] for more info. If you can not pay in full and need a payment plan, please send an email to: [email protected] There are NO refunds for this class.
