The short film "In Pursuit of Passive" follows the construction of the first net-zero, passive house built in the Greater Tetons-Yellowstone region near Jackson, WY, while explaining the Passive House building approach for designing and constructing more sustainable buildings and exploring the many associated climate and energy performance benefits for addressing the climate crisis. The film features the home’s designers – Lindsay Schack and Lindsey Love, co-founders of Love Schack Architecture, a sustainable architecture and design firm based out of Bozeman, MT and Driggs, ID – along with building and climate experts. In addition to private practice, Lindsay has instructed at Montana State University's School of Architecture in design studio and research seminars and as a guest lecturer, as well as delivering lectures on sustainability at the Universidad Latina in Costa Rica and for Fine Homebuilding Magazine. Lindsay is Co-Founder of Love|Schack Architecture, a regional design firm that specializes in low energy design using natural materials, and has sponsored Certified Passive House Tradesperson training in Montana and Wyoming in 2018, 2022 and 2023. Lindsay is a Certified Passive House Consultant, is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, a LEED-Accredited Professional and a member of the American Institute of Architects. Lindsay is the 2023 Chair of the AIA Knowledge Community for Small Project Design, and is the Architect of the first Passive House projects in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Lessons Learned Understand the health benefits of living in a passive house to improve indoor air quality and overall well-being. Analyze the safety features of passive houses to ensure a secure living environment for occupants. Introduce the concept of passive houses to promote energy efficiency and sustainable living practices. Articulate the welfare benefits of passive houses, such as reduced energy costs and environmental impact, for communities and future generations.
