Incitation to the Dance
Igniting its own "Heated Rivalry," Incitation to the Dance is a dark, sexy, Gay comedy about a young stranger who oupends the world of long-time married couple Finn and Malcolm?
Consider supporting live theatre by donating and helping bring life to Incitation to the Dance, an original, theatrical, gay, dark-comedic play written by Michael Van Duzer, which will begin its premiere run in Theatre West, from February 13th-March 15th. Incitation to the Dance centers on a unique sexual triangle. Unique, as this is a story of Malcolm and his husband, Asher, confronting Finn, a determined, young man who upends their world with his provocative blend of seduction and menace.
Playwright & Director, Michael Van Duzer, makes unique choices in the variety of narrative devices he employs throughout the play. Malcolm’s classroom lectures on Queer and other transgressive themes in Film Noir are illustrated for the audience by projections. Choreographed dance numbers burst out, amping up the growing tension and passions in a way that transcends mere words. Plus, the frank and unapologetic nature of both Finn’s speech and physicality means that a Fight Choreographer is needed, and, for the first time, Theatre West will employ an Intimacy Coordinator.
Exciting as this is, properly compensating a Dance Choreographer, Fight Choreographer, Intimacy Coordinator, and a Projection Designer adds to the already daunting task of funding a world premiere play in an intimate theater. Therefore, we’re reaching out to our Friends and Fans to help us ensure that Incitation to the Dance will reach our stage without compromising its artistic vision.
Come, join in the dance by showing your support for this production and the magic of theatre and performing arts!
