Cathi's Project ~ Income Generating Projects

Our long-term goal is to make MRV self-supporting. We have two projects to help us reach that goal in the next 1-2 years.

1. A corner/neighborhood store selling needed products such as cooking oil, onions & tomatoes, laundry soap, rice, or bread. The store will service the community and create relationships with families in our majority Muslim neighborhood. The building is done, but additional funds are needed for front security gate, doors, window, floor, shelves, electricity and initial stock.

   Finances Needed: $2600

   Estimated Net Income: $250-400/mo        

              
   

2. A public taxi service using our two 16-seat vans for transport – one in the city of Pemba, one for a long-distance daily trip to other cities. MRV already owns the two vans but funding is needed for repairs and registration/licensing.

   Finances Needed: $1800

   Estimated Net Income: $600-800/mo
