CIP believes that new voices and diverse perspectives are critical to the US foreign policy research and policymaking circle. US foreign policy is currently dominated by elite policymakers and experts prioritizing military supremacy at the expense of basic security needs, such as housing and affordable healthcare. The worst part? Young people have virtually no say in these decisions.

Young people will have to live with these policy decisions for years to come, so we plan to give them a seat at the table.

Over the past year, CIP has recruited almost 20 interns, publishing cutting-edge analyses, issue briefs, and op-eds in their own name on issues of human rights, security assistance, arms sales, technology, climate conflict, nuclear proliferation, space diplomacy, and more. Our interns have diverse backgrounds. Many of them are from the countries they are researching, such as Egypt, Lebanon, and Mexico, helping us reach our vision of foreign policy that reflects what the United States actually looks like.
