NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization. We provide advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all people affected by mental illness can build better lives.

NAMI advocates for all who are affected by mental illness, both the individuals and the people in their lives. In particular, we work to address disparities and injustices and to promote dignity and inclusion for all individuals and their families. In addition to being advocates, we educate, we listen, and we lead as evidenced by our public awareness campaigns, the range of numerous programs we provide, and our strong public policy.

NAMI Wake County is the regional affiliate, serving the 1M+ residents of Raleigh and the 11 other municipalities in the county. For 37 years, NAMI Wake County has been at the forefront of mental health advocacy, working tirelessly to ensure that everyone has access to the support and resources they need to thrive. Our vision is simple but powerful: a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community where mental health is valued, and where everyone, regardless of their challenges, can lead fulfilling lives.
