Forced marriage of young girls (age 4) to men almost 70 years old is a form of paying a debt to many individuals in Kenya. After being circumcised her autonomy is denied if their husband dies she becomes the property of one of the husband's brothers, and regardless of her well-being, she will be forced to have multiple kids, work the land, take care of the cattle, and complete various chores and are tortured if any of these is done to their master's satisfaction.

Some of these girls run away after a week of marriage. While in the streets they are raped and these sex offenders go unpunished if the girls are found they are punished, this includes backlashes, physical abuse, mutilation, branding, and genitalia mutilation
