We have sanctuary houses coming to the property and we need funds to convert them with insulation, a window, lights, ac/heat, a doggy door, play yard, flooring and more! To convert one costs $4k and the shell is $2400, so each house costs $6400 total! These sanctuary houses are not just for our sanctuary dogs, digs that do not thrive in a home environment, but we are also trying to ensure every dog we take into our rescue program has a sanctuary house instead of a kennel. The houses will also have all toys, love seat/chair, radio (we would love RVs one day, but not necessary at this time), rugs, dog bed, etc to make it feel like a home. This is a MAJOR fundraiser but it is absolutely necessary. Without the sanctuary houses our sanctuary dogs have nowhere to go. We are one of the few rescues that offers sanctuary in the US. These are dogs like Ginger. The only reasons Ginger is alive is because she has a sanctuary to go to, otherwise she would have been killed. Sanctuary is important and serves as a refuge for those that need it the most. 

Layla’s Heart takes on the most misunderstood dogs and gives them a chance at a life they deserve. No dog should be killed because they are not dog or animal friendly. No dog should be killed because they are fearful of new people. No dog should be killed because they have resource guarding or leash biting tendencies or because they have a bite on their record. Most bites are due to fear or an underlying trauma, not aggression. Layla’s Heart even offers sanctuary for dogs from other rescues as they don’t have a sanctuary set up and therefore would have to euthanize. Not every animal thrives in a home, but that doesn’t mean their life should end. We at LHRR give them the opportunity to be the dogs that they are and live out their lives in a safe, healthy, structured, extremely loving environment. We don’t forget the forgotten, we welcome them and love them for the rest of their days.

Layla’s Heart Ranch and Rescue is a 501c3 no kill rescue, rehab, and sanctuary with a 100 percent save rate. We rescue the ones that no other rescues will and we are a last chance rescue, many times being the last chance for a dog. We have rescued a significant number of dogs from Travis county and all over not only Texas but the entire US and even Canada. We specialize in behavior dogs, deaf dogs, and the ones that others forget. LHRR not only pulls from the euthanasia list at shelters we also rescue strays and homeless dogs as well as farm animals from slaughter. We have taken on the city and county in court to save lives and we won’t ever stop standing up for what is right. 

The conversion of the sanctuary houses will cost close to $124k, which we know is a lot, this is for 32 houses. 32 lives saved that wouldn’t have been given a chance anywhere else.
