The Joni's Angels Instructor Collaborative: A Fundraising Seminar for Our Martial Arts Scholarship Program at Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts in Eugene

A fun-filled four Instructor fundraising seminar event!

Get ready Eugene! Joni's Angels is coming to town on Sunday, March 29th! Join us at Eugene's Core Star Center as four great Instructors come together in an effort to support local young people facing the hardships of poverty. As you may or may not know, Joni's Angels is a 501c3 Nonprofit that pays for poverty-level youth to attend great martial arts schools - carefully selected for the quality of their Instructors and youth programs - for an entire year of classes, mentorship and guidance. One of the ways that we fund our Joni's Angels Martial Arts Scholarship Program is by presenting great seminars and workshops at the awesome schools and dojos that provide classes for the young people in our program - and we have an incredible martial arts fundraising event planned for everyone in the Eugene area on Sunday, March 29th, from 10 AM - 2 PM at the:

March 29, 2026 / 10 AM - 2 PM

This event features four great presenters who have come together for this unique martial arts fundraising effort. All of the proceeds from this event will go to support the Joni's Angels Martial Arts Scholarship Program at Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts in Eugene - a program that pairs local poverty-level youth with great mentors and role models for an entire year of free classes at Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts - so you can have a good time, pick up some handy new skills, and help local area young people ...all at the same time!

The excitement starts at 10 AM with Timm Wagner of Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts in Eugene. This amazing young Instructor will be sharing his secrets for developing skill using a well-constructed combination of Boxing and Traditional Martial Arts.

Then, get ready to experience the mastery of local martial arts legend and G.O.A.T. Award recipient, GM Brian Oakes, as he shows you how to develop great Trapping Hand Defenses for use against the Jab and the Cross. You will be amazed at how quickly and easily you can learn this advanced skill set from a legendary Instructor like GM Oakes!

Following GM Oakes is Joni's Angels' own, Steve Altfillisch. This master-level Krav Maga Instructor will be sharing his best Handgun Disarms from Krav Maga, Tzu Jan Martial Art, and his own personal defense system. This masterful set of handgun disarms is a crowd favorite at every school we visit. You don't want to miss this!

To finish off this great day of fun and incredible martial arts training, Sifu Charlie Hicks of Joni's Angels will be presenting a crash course on Mastering Timing in Offense and Defense. You will learn how to properly time your offensive and defensive movements so you can attack and defend with far more success, and you will learn how to synchronize your techniques with your assailant's movements so that you can easily "fit in" with your attacks and counters..

This is a special event for Joni's Angels. Sifu Charlie grew up in Eugene, and he was once one of the young people that the Joni's Angels Martial Arts Scholarship Program is now designed to help. Local area martial arts legends Sifu Don Hildenbrand, Sifu David Leung, GM Dick Burrows and Professor Robert Suttles were his Instructors when he was young, and they often taught him for free or paid the way for him to attend seminars when he was in his teens. It was their mentorship and guidance, and the love that they showed for him, that kept Sifu Charlie off of the streets and out of trouble - and that served as the inspiration for the Joni's Angels Martial Arts Scholarship Program. This is a bit of a "homecoming" event for us here at Joni's Angels, and we are really excited about this fundraiser. We hope that you will join us.

The proceeds from this event will go to help economically-challenged young people locally through the Joni's Angels Martial Arts Scholarship program at Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts in Eugene. When you register for our event using this Givebutter Nonprofit Fundraising Page, your contribution goes directly into a Givebutter account that we have set aside specifically for funding students at Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts. In the first year of our program, and with huge thanks to all of our seminar attendees and our donors, Joni's Angels raised enough money to fund three young people at great martial arts schools in Washington and Oregon for 2026 - including one right here at Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts in Eugene! With your help, we would like to be able to both continue to fund that student for 2027 AND be able to fund one or two more as well!!! So we are asking you to attend this great event if you can - and to please make a small donation using the "Just Donating" option on the form if you can't. Your contribution will go to support a Joni's Angels Martial Arts Scholarship award for a local area student to attend classes at Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts in Eugene. The mentorship, guidance, and role models that they provide for all of the students at Bigfoot is simply outstanding! Come and spend the day with us if you can (and please help Joni's Angels fund more students at Bigfoot Tactical Martial Arts with a small donation if you can't). You'll make some new friends, learn some great martial arts, help some young people, and have a great time while you are at it! What could be better?

-Active students or Instructors at any Guardians Network Member School (the great martial arts schools in our program) - INCLUDING ANY STUDENTS OF BIGFOOT TACTICAL MARTIAL ARTS, THEIR PARTNER SCHOOL, RED TIGER KUNG FU, and ANY STUDENT TAKING ANY OF THE GREAT MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES AT THE CORE STAR CENTER can register for just $25! WOW!!! As you can tell, we'd really like to have as many of you attend as possible - we'd love to meet you, you'll have a lot of fun, and it's for a great cause!
