Giving Tuesday
Why this work matters
For me, Juneteenth GVL is not just about planning events. It is about standing in the gap for people who were born into circumstances and systems they did not create.
We are working to remove barriers that make it harder for underserved and marginalized families to breathe, to plan, and to see a future that feels like their own. I never want to give people hope without also working to provide the resources and stability that make hope sustainable. Dreams need food on the table, a safe place to live, access to wellness, and pathways to ownership.
Through Juneteenth GVL, we get to serve the people you see every day:
the cashier at the grocery store, the student trying to figure out college, the veteran in your neighborhood, the family sitting near you in church.
Our mission is to educate, equip, and elevate through:
• Scholarships for Mr. and Miss Juneteenth that change trajectories, not just resumes
• Keys to Freedom, our homeownership empowerment work with Habitat for Humanity Greenville and community partners
• Wellness events and days of service that bring movement, mental health resources, and practical support to our neighbors
• Partnerships with organizations like Upstate Circle of Friends Vet Forward Initiative, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County, and Changing Your Mind Ministries that tackle housing, wellness, and food insecurity
This is not just a social cause for us. This is treating the needs of our community as holy.
Your gift to this campaign helps us keep doing that work with intention and stability. It helps us move from “we wish we could” to “we are doing it” for more families across the Upstate.
