With more than 120 students actively participating in various award-winning music ensembles and color guards, our widely acclaimed band program is the largest student organization at John Hersey High School (JHHS).

We are proud to celebrate more than 55 years of making music and future musicians. Since 1968, our students' dedication, determination, and love of music have propelled the program's reputation to achieve musical excellence.

Under the direction of 2024 Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award recipient Spencer Hile, the Hersey Band Program instills life-long learning, respect for one another, responsibility, and leadership in a fun and rewarding environment. Regardless of financial status, we believe every student should be afforded an equitable experience in our band program. That is why the ongoing support we receive from our community, friends, and family is vital!
