With more than 120 students actively participating in various award-winning music ensembles and color guards, our widely acclaimed band program is the largest student organization at John Hersey High School (JHHS).

This year, we are proud to celebrate 55 years of making music and future musicians. Since 1968, our students' dedication, determination, and love of music have propelled the program's reputation to achieve musical excellence.

Under the direction of 2024 Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award recipient Spencer Hile, the Hersey Band Program instills life-long learning, respect for one another, responsibility, and leadership, while also having fun. We believe every student, regardless of financial status, should be afforded an equitable experience in our band program. That is why the ongoing support we receive from our community, friends, and family is vital!
