Having been a member of the Junior League of Charlotte (JLC) for 17 years, our mission is very near and dear to my heart. I owe so much to the JLC - lifelong friendships, professional development, confidence and a source of endless inspiration. I am honored to participate in our Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) this year and I hope you'll take a moment to learn more about this campaign!
LBDI is a social capital and social media fundraising campaign aimed to raise awareness of the disparities thousands of K-5th graders experience when it comes to having access to mental and physical health programs in our priority zip codes: 28205, 28206, 28208,28212, 28216, and 28217.
LBDI invites participants to wear the same black dress or outfit every day for five consecutive days to spark conversation and increase awareness about the challenges facing our neighbors in need in the Charlotte community. All funds raised will go towards supporting the core mission of the JLC and the community initiatives of current and past community partners. The JLCs goal for this fundraiser is $40,000 - but I am focused on raising even more to have a greater impact on the Charlotte community.
