Hi friends! My name is Maria and I am a third year resident here at the St. John Paul II Newman Center. I am a junior at UNO studying Mathematics and minoring in Nonprofit Management. After I graduate, I look forward to working with either a Prolife or Catholic nonprofit. Now that we're past the boring stuff, let me tell you about my experience here at JPII Newman!  

On move-in day, I found myself surrounded by people with all sorts of different interests, but we all shared one thing: a desire to live and know our God well. This really helped me to step out of the idea that there is a perfect, "cookie-cutter" Catholic, but a ton of different ways to connect to God. This time surrounded by intentionally faithful people has really helped me to have a more personal relationship with God.  Newman and it's community became my refuge from a world troubled by so many things. 

After my time at Newman comes to an end, I know I will be sad to leave, but I won’t leave unchanged. I will always have friends who will call me higher and push me further even as they graduate, step into their vocations, and follow God’s mission for them. I will strive to be a mirror of Christ’s love and bring people to know Him personally. And most importantly, I will trust God every step of the way. Will you help us to continue the mission?
