Why a Community Garden?

We want to improve access to healthy food, improve nutrition, increase physical activity and most importantly improve mental health for individuals and families in Eastern Prince William County. Our hope is to foster social health and create community connections.

Prince William County has an estimated population of 470,335 people. Median income is $42,298 a year. The average rent in PWC is $1,793 a month. Car notes range from $300-$600. Utilities can include water/sewer, electricity and gas totaling another $300-$600. Healthcare, insurance, cable/internet, phone and lets not even mention gas for your car. After all of that you have to feed yourself and family. Spending anywhere from $120-$250 a week on groceries. $480-$1,000 on food a month.

Our goal is to increase Food Security in our community. Allow access to groups for education and entertainment. A place of life and beauty...a living poem.
