The Volunteer English Teacher Training will be Friday evening, 5:30 to 9:30 pm, and Saturday, 8:45 am to 5:30 pm at Cave Spring Baptist Church, 4873 Brambleton Ave, Roanoke, VA 24018.  Friday night dinner and Saturday lunch will be provided.  Our guest trainer will be Barb Goodno of Gettysburg, PA.  Cost is $50 per person and includes handbook, materials, dinner, lunch and our speaker. 

In this training you will learn:

• How to start and maintain a fruitful ESL Ministry
• How to teach ESL to adult Internationals including:
  • How to place students in the proper fluency level classroom
  • b. How to Lesson Plan using professionally written curriculum
  • c. How to introduce new vocabulary & sentences using new vocabulary
  • d. How to get the students to generate their own sentences
• How to build authentic relationships with your students
• How to share the Gospel both inside and outside the ESL Classroom

You don't need to speak another language or be a professional teacher to be a volunteer ESL Teacher. All you need to do is speak English and love Jesus and we can teach you the rest. This training is interactive. During the training you will practice the skills that you are learning, create two lesson plans for different fluency levels and come away excited to serve the Lord through ESL Ministry.

In addition to being a great training for new ESL Volunteers, this is a great training for experienced ESL Volunteers to refresh their skills and be encouraged.

Please note that you are expected to attend the entire training. Those who complete the entire training will receive a certificate of completion. We will NOT be able to record this training or stream it via Zoom. If you'd prefer to attend a Zoom training, you can find one here. 

Registration will close Monday, January 23 at 9 am. We will be unable to offer refunds after Monday, January 23, due to needing to order materials; however, after that date it will be possible to transfer registration to a future training.
