With the election behind us, it's time for Youth Service America to focus on reaching deeper into rural, urban, and suburban communities.

Please help us make sure that every kid in America has the opportunity to find their voice, take action, and have an impact on a problem in their community.

In some cases, it's the way their peers are bullied in their school. It could be their state's unacceptable ranking on childhood hunger. It might be the impact of recent hurricanes, floods, or wildfires exacerbated by the hottest year in recorded history. Or it could be mental health, gun violence, or social justice.

With YSA's new state strategy, we will work more closely in 2025 with governors, state education agencies, nonprofit hubs, and mayors and county executives. No state can afford for its young people to grow up before they learn how to solve problems through critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication.

Many think this election showed too many young people feel disenfranchised from their community and the organizations that can make a difference in their lives. We need to ask youth for their ideas and let them take action. Instead of self-preservation, they need to be invited to community preservation. Instead of pure individualism, they need to be invited to serve others.

In this new space, they will discover that they belong, they have purpose, and they matter.
