Thank you for taking the time to look at my fundraising page for VPLC's Justice Day initiative. I appreciate you clicking on the link I shared, and I would like to briefly ask you to forego one cup of coffee to help donate to an organization I am proud to work for, and that does tireless work to help out our less fortunate brothers and sisters throughout the Commonwealth.
I joined VPLC in the Winter of 2023 as the Manufactured Housing Specialist (Mobile Homes), and in a very short time, I can highlight just some of the work I am doing that brings me a sense of purpose, and I believe is working to help those who call Manufactured Housing Parks home.
- Lobbied the General Assembly on legislation to clarify the rights of residents living in Manufactured Housing Communities.
- Lobbied for legislation to allow localities in Northern Virginia to have the opportunity to purchase Manufactured Housing Communities and provide stable housing for residents rather than risk sales to developers in our most populated areas.
- Working on a primer to provide new legal aid attorneys with information related to representing Manufactured Housing tenants in the courtroom where they do not have experience.
- Coordinating a taskforce for legal aid attorneys, community organizers, and stakeholders statewide to discuss issues related to manufactured housing and how we can work together to achieve goals related to housing stability.
This is just what I have done in 4 months. I have much more in the works, but I just wanted to highlight some of my work. I believe the work I am doing and the work all of my coworkers do is because we have been called to help those who may not always feel as if they have a voice, as if justice will never come to them, as if they have been forgotten by those with power. I am working to help give our brothers and sisters in Manufactured Housing a louder voice throughout the Commonwealth.
I appreciate you looking at my page, and I hope you will forego that cup of coffee to help me and VPLC continue to fight the good fight. Remember, injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere, let us stamp out injustice together.
