🧡 Hammerhead’s Torn Cheek Emergency

Meet Hammerhead — a 3-year-old colony cat who showed up at a feeding with nearly an entire cheek torn away. 😿

Our volunteer feeder sprang into action, and Hammerhead was rushed to our partner vet, where he received emergency surgery to repair the wound, clean the infection, and receive inner sutures to properly close his wound. While under anesthesia, he was also neutered and vaccinated, which will make his future healthier and more peaceful.

The surgery was a success, but we discovered that Hammerhead is FIV+. That means he’s more vulnerable to illness and cannot safely remain on the streets. He’ll need at least a month of dedicated foster care to heal and time with a rescue or adopter who can provide a safe, indoor home.

🧡 Felix Needs More Lifesaving Care

Meet Felix — you may recognize this sweet 8-year-old if you’ve donated to KCC recently. He’s been fighting serious nasal and eye disease for months: he stopped eating, became dehydrated, bled from both nostrils, and developed painful eye infections. Because his caregiver acted quickly, Felix received urgent veterinary care instead of being left to decline.

After extensive diagnostics, biopsies, antibiotics, appetite support, and fluids, a specialist has identified a promising, likely permanent solution. Felix is scheduled for surgery in two weeks. He’s been in loving foster care since January and will need continued post-op recovery and monitoring for several weeks. Once healed, we hope to place him in a permanent, loving home — he’s a biscuit-maker and a purr machine who adores pets and attention.
