Student #1 | A Second Chance's Story

Jesus to me is a God of second chances. For as long as I can remember everything in my life has been Christ centered. My relationship with the Lord started in Stone Point Church in Edgewood Tx. From there our relationship grew and grew, eventually my family and I ended up switching churches to Driven Life Church in Canton Tx. While we attended church there on Sundays, I felt so strong in my faith and I decided to get baptized. I was about ten years old and after that day I felt like a whole new person. My faith was stronger than ever before and life was perfect.

My faith was on fire as I entered middle school, I was sharing the gospel and praying for people. The end of my seventh grade year is when things started turning. I started hanging out with all the wrong people. People that did not have the same goals and mindset as I did. The devil started tempting me with all kinds of things that I knew were wrong. After hanging out with this group of people for a while, my faith had weakened significantly, my morales were not set to where they should have been, I even lost a lot of my real friends. That went on for about a year until about halfway through my eighth grade year. I had gotten caught making bad decisions with this “friend group.” This is when Jesus showed me mercy.Jesus doesn't just leave us in our mistakes. He offers us a way to move forward through his mercy. Just like Peter denied Jesus and was met with love, correction, and an opportunity to start fresh, he also met me where I was with the same mercy and grace.

Through Jesus’s Mercy, Grace, and Forgiveness, he has helped me find my true identity in him and not in the group of people I thought were my friends. He has helped me identify who my true friends are and the circle I needed to associate with. Although I made mistakes and sinned, Jesus’s Mercy offers me “A Second Chance”.
