Black Hills High Stakes Season
The Black Hills Robotics Foundation is focused on bringing more Black Hills Schools into competitive robotics.
Here is our plan for this season
Purchase portable fields, field tiles, and game elements to double dip on making it easier to host tournaments and having equipment on hand for new teams.
Black Hills hosts two tournaments, and at each tournament we need to have 3 complete fields. In our region, those fields are usually the lab fields from teams gracious enough to tear down their lab field (which takes about an hour depending on how many people you have), bring it to the tournament, set it back up (which can take a few hours unless your well practiced), then after the tournament, tear it back down, bring it back to your team lab, and set it up again!
East River has made this easier on their teams, they don't use their lab fields. They have a trailer, stocked with everything needed to host a tournament. You just bring the trailer to the tournament, setup, and then put it back in the trailer when you're done.
We can't afford a trailer yet, but one of our coaches already fronted the money to buy the 3 fields, tiles, and 1 set of game elements. Now we need to find sponsors to reimburse that coach.
This also puts us in a better position to bring on a new team, because we can grant a complete field from our "trailer" to one of the new teams, and then restock the trailer once we find more funding!
Purchase all the equipment to start a new team, so they can get started as soon as they are ready
By having a V5 Competition Super Kit, Workbench, and tools on hand, we can accelerate getting a new team started, and then continue fundraising to refill our stock.
Robotics parts are a niche market and so sometimes parts can get backed up for weeks, by having one kit ready to go, we can insulate our new teams from this.
Provide lunch for students, volunteers, and coaches at both Black Hills tournaments
Black Hills Robotics Foundation is going to be the "Field Sponsor" at both the Douglas tournament (in Box Elder near the Air Force Base) October 26th and in Spearfish February 15th
As Field Sponsor, this will be an opportunity for us to get the word out about Black Hills Robotics Foundation, leading to more communities in the Hills starting their own teams
Robotics simply isn't possible without coaches and volunteers, and so taking care of their meal is the least we can do to show our support.
Our budget for this year is $7,500.
That will allow us to fund one new team and set us up well to fund more teams in the years to come.
Here is the budget break down
$750 - Field Sponsorship / Feed Students and Volunteers lunch at Douglas Tournament Oct 26
$750 - Field Sponsorship / Feed Students and Volunteers lunch at Spearfish Tournament Feb 15
