Brittany Davis' Story

Kissing Cows for Community

A proud Lewis County native, Brittany’s roots run deep. Raised just down the road from her family’s Limestone Ridge Farm, she spent her childhood helping with milking, feeding calves, and all the chores that come with growing up surrounded by barns, cows, and generations of hardworking farmers.

After time away for college and an adventurous chapter in Colorado with her husband, Jon, Brittany felt the inevitable pull back to Lewis County. “There’s something about this place,” she said. “Lewis County has a way of pulling you back; whether it be the natural beauty, the close-knit communities, the peacefulness- it always draws you home.”

Now raising two young sons here, Brittany is dedicated to giving back to the county that raised her.

Professionally, Brittany has spent nearly a decade championing growth and opportunity across Lewis County. Her role as the Executive Director of Naturally Lewis has immersed her in the communities she serves, helping to identify potential, spark ideas, and inspire residents to dream bigger. Whether you're a farmer, a professional, or an entrepreneur, she believes Lewis County can be the place where you build something meaningful and thrive while doing it.

That passion for the community is exactly why she’s willing to pucker up and kiss a cow to support the ALICE program. “I like cows; they’re funny, curious creatures,” she said. “Kissing one? No big deal if it means helping families who are doing their best but still struggling.” Brittany sees the ALICE program as a critical resource for those who fall short of qualifying for assistance yet desperately need that extra boost to get ahead. “We want to elevate and scale up the people that live here and this is a program that helps with that,” she said.

Between work, parenting, and serving on local boards like the Turbine Swim Club, Adirondack North Country Association and the New York State Economic Development Council, Brittany still finds time to celebrate her favorite local traditions like the Lewis County Fair.

“It’s my week to splurge on all the food,” she said. “I love seeing families come home to for fair week, I think that’s something really special about our fair is that people who don’t live in the state plan their vacations so they can be here. That’s how special the Lewis County Fair is.”

Brittany is in it to win it, but not just the Cow Kissing contest. She’s in it to win for Lewis County, to champion a better future, and to show what’s possible when a community invests in itself.
